Matt 18: 19-20 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Because of a wrong interpretation of this verse, millions of Christians around the world think that the more we are praying the more the prayer is powerful.
What a mistake!

If we take the context of this verse, Jesus is giving instructions in the case where we have to make reproach to a person who has sinned, in order to help him to get back on track.
In this case only, Jesus said that when two or three people gather together, in order to restore peace, then He is in the midst of these people to help them to bring peace back.
This is what this passage says, nothing more than that.

So some people have thought by reading this passage, without taking the time to look at the context, that the more we are in prayer the more the prayer is powerful. Or sometimes we even hear that we have to be at least two persons to ensure the presence of Jesus among us.
No offence, but such assertions are so ridiculous, and are totally against the teaching of the Gospel.

No passage in the new Covenant shows that we must be several people to have a more powerful prayer.
Have you seen Jesus calling someone to the rescue when He was praying?
Have you heard Peter, Paul, James, or John, calling someone to help them in prayer because they couldn't make it?
Absolutely not!
This doctrine has become worldly over time. The result of it (for those who adopt this idea) is a weak local church, who does not move on, who does not see what they should experience about blessings, about victories, about glory.

Of course it is good to pray together because we enjoy ourselves in gathering together, united by the brotherly love that we have, but not to add some power to the prayer.

In fact this kind of statement to gather in prayer for more success, often suits us.
Let's be honest with ourselves.
It is much easier to rely on the faith of his brother or his sister, instead of resting on ours. It's much more comfortable!

Yet God has not called us to stay in our comfort zone!

We are sons, daughters, belonging to the most powerful Kingdom in the universe. We are the sons and daughters of this Kingdom, nothing can surpass his power.
Don't underestimate the power that is in you, because it is the same who raised Jesus from the dead. We all sit with Jesus in heavenly places, having received all the power of God.

You did not receive a bit of the power of the Holy Spirit, you have received the Holy Spirit as a whole person dwelling in you permanently :)

Mark 12:24 Jesus answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?”

So get out of this childish attitude, and become an adult Christian.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”

Dear brothers and sisters, you have within you the same power that Jesus, Paul, Peter, or John had, you just have to learn how to use it. Your potential is far beyond your imagination, don't let satan make you believe that you need to gather together to increase the power of your prayer.
